The Handworks provides shared studio space for porcelain artists from novice to accomplished. We provide work space, tools and materials for slip-cast and hand-built ware. All bisque and glaze firings are included.
Our home-based studio includes well-lit indoor and shaded outdoor work space. Instruction, guidance and technical advice is provided as-needed. The studio is open Wednesdays and Fridays - 9am to 4pm. Instruction is available from 9am to noon. Afternoon hours are your free time to work. Every day features homemade soup for lunch. Monday evening hours are available by appointment. Studio Fee: $25 per session. Pay for four sessions, and any day you miss can be made up during any studio hours (space permitting). Materials fee: $5 per session. Special projects may incur additional costs. Mold Fabrication: If you would like to add original sculpted elements to your porcelain, the Handworks has a skilled mold-maker on call to fabricate a custom plaster mold of your work. Our equipment includes a wide selection of tools, wheel, slab roller, extruder and a large capacity L&L electric kiln. Note: The Handworks regularly produces whiteware for porcelain painters, so white clay only is permitted in the studio |
